    Case study·That Brownie Girl

    From Idea to Identity

That Brownie Girl started as just that, an idea. No logo, no website, no defined audience. Just a concept waiting to become a brand.

We took it from the ground up. We built a logo and visual identity that captured the personality of the brand, developed a color palette and typography system that felt distinct and consistent, and shaped a brand voice that could carry across every touchpoint.

But branding isn't just visuals, it's knowing who you're actually talking to. We dug into audience research to identify their ideal customer base: their demographics, their psychographics, and the specific target audience segments most likely to convert. That insight shaped everything from messaging to design decisions, ensuring the brand wasn't just beautiful, but built to connect.

From there, we designed and built their website, a digital home that reflected the brand identity we'd created and gave customers a clear, on-brand experience from the first click.

    The result

What started as an idea is now a fully realised brand with a defined identity, a website built to convert, and a clear understanding of exactly who their customer is and how to reach them. That Brownie Girl isn't just a name anymore, it's a brand with direction.

What is included in a branding project with Map Sense Media?

A branding project with Map Sense Media includes positioning and messaging, naming support where a name is needed, logo and mark design, colour and typography systems, photography and video art direction, packaging and print direction, social templates and launch assets, and a written guideline document the client owns outright. Audience research is part of the work: for That Brownie Girl the studio defined the ideal customer's demographics and psychographics before designing, so the identity, the voice and the website were built for the people most likely to buy. Source files, fonts and licences are handed over at the end of the project and nothing is licensed back to the studio.

How much does a brand identity cost in British Columbia?

Brand identity work at Map Sense Media is quoted as a fixed project after a scoping call, with focused projects starting at approximately CA$5,000 in Canadian dollars and full rebrands for operating businesses, which add signage, packaging, vehicle wraps and a changeover schedule, scoped above that. Cost drivers are the number of applications the identity has to cover, whether naming is required, how much research precedes the design, and how many launch assets ship with the guidelines. Every quote lists the deliverables, the revision rounds and the handover of source files before any design work starts. Work is done from the Abbotsford studio for businesses across the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver and the rest of British Columbia.

Can you rebrand a business that is already operating?

Yes. Map Sense Media rebrands operating businesses and sequences the changeover so signage, packaging, vehicle wraps, menus, uniforms and digital channels switch on a schedule the business can absorb rather than all at once. The Mainland Auto Group work unified three dealership rooftops in Abbotsford, Surrey and Langley under one brand system with a shared trust layer for financing, trade-in and warranty, and a design system each rooftop's local campaigns plug into. The Black Casket Cafe launch in Abbotsford led with identity first so the cafe's social grid, launch films and menus arrived fully formed on day one. Existing customers are told what changed and why through the same channels the campaign runs on.
